Is there a fundraising minimum?
No. There are no financial requirements to be a YSC Champion, because every dollar makes a difference!
Will YSC cover the costs of my fundraising event?
No. YSC will not incur any event-related costs or reimbursements, including (but not limited to) postage, printing, purchasing tickets, “giveaways” and/or sponsorship.
Who benefits from the fundraising proceeds?
All funds raised go directly to
Young Survival Coalition, the premier, non-profit organization dedicated to young women affected by breast cancer.
Does it matter what type of campaign I choose during the registration process?
When you begin to start a new campaign, you will be prompted to choose if this is a Birthday, Special Event, Honor/Tribute, etc. This information is solely for YSC to have better knowledge about our Champions, it does not matter which type you choose and will not affect the fundraising page and tools that are provided to you upon registration. Everyone receives the same fundraising tools.
How are YSC’s funds allocated? Where can I read more about them?
We are proud of the work we do, and the funds that we allocate to programs directly benefit the young women who need our help.
We welcome you to download our annual report from our website so you can view our complete financial statements. The annual reports are a great resource to share not only about YSC's financials but also about YSC's programs and services, and the highlights of YSC's work each year.
We encourage you to download our YSC programs overview so you can learn more about the programs and services that YSC offers. We are incredibly proud of the work we do and what we are able to accomplish, with much-appreciated help from generous donors and fundraisers.
Is there a fundraising minimum?

How quickly can I expect an online donation to post to my page?
Any donation made online should post immediately. If your donation does not post within 15 minutes, please email
donations@youngsurvival.org.
Where can I find a list of the people who have donated to me?
Log in with your email and password to visit your headquarters page. Select 'My Fundraising Report' on the left side. You will then find a list of all of your donors as well as a list of all donors to your team.
Not all of my donors are showing up in the Honor Roll. Why?
As your donors make a contribution, they have the option of whether or not they want to appear in the Honor Roll.
To whom should checks be written?
Please make checks out to “Young Survival Coalition.” Make sure your name is in the memo line (i.e., “John Smith’s fundraiser”).

What is YSC’s tax information?
Young Survival Coalition is a 501(c)(3) organization. Our tax ID is 13-4057685.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, all donations to Young Survival Coalition are fully tax-deductible. If you donate online, you will receive a receipt via email. If you donate via check or money order, your receipt will arrive via mail.
Are donations of items/services tax-deductible?
No, YSC does not acknowledge third-party, in-kind donations such as raffle and auction items, services, venue space, etc. for tax purposes.
Can my donors get tax receipts?
Yes, all donors who make a donation to Young Survival Coalition will get a tax receipt. All online donors will receive an automatic email receipt after donating. Donors who make a donation via check will receive an acknowledgment/receipt letter in the mail. Per IRS guidelines, YSC can only acknowledge direct gifts. If participants of an event would like to be acknowledged by YSC for their donation, they MUST donate directly to YSC (e.g. a check written directly to Young Survival Coalition or a donation made to YSC online).
How can I send a thank you email to my donors?
To easily send thank-you emails to donors, follow these steps:

Log in to your fundraiser dashboard by clicking the "My HQ" link in the top right

Click "My Fundraising Report" in the left sidebar

Locate the donor/donation you'd like to thank, and click "Send Email"
(If the donor didn't submit their email address, this option is unavailable.)

Type the message in the pop-up window, and click "Send Email"
Is there a donation form on the website?
Yes, you can download the
donation form and send it in with your donations.
Can we submit donations in cash?
No, Young Survival Coalition cannot accept cash donations. It is never safe to send cash through the mail. If you receive a cash donation and wish to have YSC send a thank-you letter, please complete the
donation log. If you deposit cash into your checking account and write a personal check for the total amount, be sure to include complete contact information (including mailing address) for all cash donations and identify which check is for the cash donations. Per IRS guidelines, YSC can only acknowledge direct gifts. If participants of an event would like to be acknowledged by YSC for their donation, they MUST donate directly to YSC (e.g. a check written directly to Young Survival Coalition or a donation made to YSC online).
What can I do if a check is written out to me personally?
If a donation check has been written out to you personally, you may endorse the back of the check and mail it in with a completed donation form to Young Survival Coalition.
How long will it take for my offline donations/checks to be added to my page?
Normal turnaround time is 2-3 business days after checks have been received in the YSC office, but it can sometimes take several weeks. You can enter the check as a pledge. This can be done in the fundraising section of your "My HQ" page. The status of the check will be pending until the check is received by Young Survival Coalition.
How do I get donations matched from an employer?
Contact your employer's human resources department to find out if they have a matching gift program. Complete the necessary paperwork or online forms and forward them to:

After YSC receives your matching gift form or website link, we'll verify the gift and return it to your employer. Your employer will then send a check matching the donation directly to YSC. This process can take several weeks or months, so please complete matching gift forms early to ensure proper crediting toward your fundraising goal.

I’ve never raised money before. Can I do it?
Absolutely! Fundraising can be fun…and a lot easier than you may think. We’ve got lots of
fundraising resources and ideas to help you get started, along with a personal fundraising web page that will make it easy for you to reach out to family and friends online.
Why am I receiving emails telling me that I’ve received a donation?
You are receiving these emails because we would like to keep you updated on your fundraising efforts. If you wish to stop receiving these updates, please login to your headquarters and edit your account preferences.
What is my personal page URL?
A personal URL is a shortened link to your team or personal page that you can send to friends and family in emails. A personal URL will look like this https://www.yscchampions.org/jane.
Can a donor add a dedication message that appears in my fundraising honor roll?
When a donor makes a donation online, s/he can enter text to appear on the fundraising honor roll. This may be the donor's name, or it could be something like "From the whole Wolf family" or "In Memory of Aunt Cathy".
As the event organizer, what am I responsible for?
The event organizer will be solely responsible for all operational aspects of the event, including (but not limited to) the safe and lawful conduct of the event and ensuring that the event is conducted in a professional manner befitting the parties’ respective outstanding public images.
The event organizer agrees to comply with all laws relating to the promotion and conduct of the Event and its activities. The event organizer further agrees to file all appropriate registrations, obtain all permits, releases, consents, licenses and approvals necessary for promoting and conducting the event.
Will YSC endorse my fundraising event?
Third parties may not claim that YSC is sponsoring or endorsing their event or initiative in any promotional material or publicity. Any promotional material must clearly state that the event is raising funds to "benefit YSC".
Will YSC cover the costs of my fundraising event?
No. YSC will not incur any event-related costs or reimbursements, including (but not limited to) postage, printing, purchasing tickets, “giveaways” and/or sponsorship.
Will YSC provide someone to speak at my fundraising event?
Young Survival Coalition does not guarantee attendance of a YSC employee or representative at a third party event fundraiser. If YSC deems it necessary, an effort will be made to have someone from YSC or a representative of the organization attend the event if requested. However, due to time and location restrictions, this attendance is not guaranteed. This decision is subject to the discretion of YSC.
Will YSC promote my fundraising event?
Young Survival Coalition does not guarantee external promotion by either email or social media.
Can I use YSC in the name of my fundraising event?
In naming the event/promotion, YSC may not be used in the title, but it may be listed as the beneficiary of the event. For example, organizers may not refer to the event as “Young Survival Coalition’s Bike-a-thon.” Instead, it could be promoted as “Bike-a-thon to Benefit Young Survival Coalition.”
How should Young Survival Coalition be referred to in promotional materials?
All promotional materials should read “To benefit Young Survival Coalition”.
Will YSC provide a list of contacts so I can communicate with them about my fundraising event?
YSC does not release its list of friends, supporters, survivors, etc.
Will YSC provide a list of corporate partners that I can contact about my fundraising event?
YSC receives critical support from various corporations. Out of respect for our valued corporate partners, we do not share our sponsor contact information.
Will YSC provide me with the YSC logo to use in marketing materials for my fundraising event?
Do marketing materials have to include the amount that will be donated to YSC?
Yes. YSC requires, per the Better Business Bureau recommendation, that the donation percentage be communicated to the public clearly on all communication pieces (e.g. all proceeds will benefit…20% of the net proceeds will be donated to….or $10 from every ticket sold will be donated to…etc.)
Will YSC provide educational materials for my fundraising event?
Yes.
Educational materials are available on the YSC website free of charge. YSC does not permit the distribution of these free materials to be conditioned on the purchase of specific items or admission ticket.
Will YSC endorse my fundraising event?
Materials cannot include any wording that suggests endorsement of a product by YSC. Similarly, third parties cannot state that a product, therapy, test or treatment is approved by YSC. Any promotional material must clearly state that the event is raising funds to benefit YSC.
Will YSC cover the costs of my retail promotion?
No. YSC will not incur any promotion-related costs or reimbursements, including (but not limited to) postage, printing, “giveaways” and/or sponsorship.

I am part of a group/team that is interested in fundraising for YSC Champions. What should I do?
You can
register quickly and easily online. After you register, you will be asked if you would like to create or join a team – this will allow you to create a team page where you can set a team goal and invite other members to help you reach it!
How many people can be part of a team?
As long as you have two people, you have a team! We encourage you to recruit as many members as you can.
How do I join a fundraising team?
You can navigate to the existing team page and click the “Join” button to register for a team. Additionally, you can join after you register by selecting “Create or Join a Team” in your HQ Tasks.
How can I make one of my teammates a co-captain?
It's easy! Just follow these steps:
- Log in to your "My HQ"
- Click on the "My Team Fundraisers" link
- Click on the "Add as co-captain" link next to the person you wish to add
How do fundraising teams reach their goal?
The team captain sets a goal for the team. Any donations made to a team member or to the team directly are counted toward the team goal.
Can I make a donation to a team?
Yes. You can make a donation to a fundraiser on a team or you can make a general team donation.

Click on the home page and begin typing the first or last name. Your options will display as you type.

When making a donation why is there an option to cover the credit card processing fees?
All donations made by credit card have associated fees both by the credit card company as well as by the credit card processor. These fees are paid by Young Survival Coalition unless the donor chooses to cover the cost of the fees when making a donation. Selecting to cover the processing fees allows for your entire donation to be contributed to the organization rather than the credit card fees being deducted from the donation that is being made.
If you check this checkbox, you will be charged the amount indicated next to the checkbox. This amount will also be visible to the non-profit. However, on the fundraising page, your intended – initial donation amount will be displayed.
Are donations tax-deductible?
All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, will the amount entered be in U.S. dollars?
Yes. For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, the amount entered in the online donation form will be in U.S. dollars.
Do all donors who mail their donations receive a receipt?
Any donor who mailed their donation and provided an address will receive a receipt via mail once the donation has been processed. If you made your donation in installments, you will receive a receipt each time a monthly payment is processed.
Do all donors who contribute online receive a receipt?
Yes, anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt via email.
