At some point I joked I’d never make it to 40...but - it was kind of only 50% a joke. Yet. Here I am (well on June 16 2021 assuming i make it), survived breast cancer at 33. Wrinkles sarcasm and all, during a pandemic. I’d like to celebrate in a more meaningful way to me than drinking and falling down. I am planning an Emma challenge and asking you all to join (and donate!)
I’d like to do this for a cause i think is important... the Young Survival Coalition. They provide support for people and funding for research into breast cancer in the under 40 year old population - which I will no longer be! Being a young cancer survivor is both amazing and awful all at the same time. So... please raise/donate money as a birthday present to me!
The challenge for folks on the team:
sometime in June complete one of the following:
40k running (or walking) over 7 days
40k vertical ft climbing on a bike over 7 days (or in one go haha)
40k run in one go (this is my plan)
40k swim (over the 7 days)
400k flat bike ride in 7 days
Thank you in advance!!
We've made an exciting commitment to become YSC Champions. The money we raise will go to support Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the premier non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and educating young women affected by breast cancer.
Each year, more than 13,000 young women 40 and under are diagnosed with breast cancer. I am making the commitment to help raise money to support these women, so they can face breast cancer feeling empowered.
We know we can do it with donations from people like you. How will your contribution help?
$25 could fund YSC materials at three healthcare providers’ offices.
$100 could provide a Newly Diagnosed Navigator to six women when they need it most.
$250 could allow us to train four survivors to serve as peer supporters.
$500 could fund a Young Empowered Survivor (YES) educational program.
$1,200 could pay for two women to travel to our annual conference for young women affected by breast cancer.
Any amount helps!
Thank you, in advance, for your support. We truly appreciate your generosity.
