At some point I joked I’d never make it to 40... but as you all know - it was kind of only 50% a joke. Yet. Here I am. Wrinkles sarcasm and all during a pandemic. I’d like to celebrate in a more meaningful way to me than drinking and falling down. I am planning an Emma challenge and asking you all to join!
I’d like to do this for a cause i think is important... the Young Survival Coalition. They provide support for people and funding for research into breast cancer in the under 40 year old population - which I will no longer be! Being a young cancer survivor is both amazing and awful all at the same time. So... please donate money and/or join my team as a birthday present to me!
Week of June 16 - 23 complete one of the following:
40k running (or walking) over 7 days
40k vertical ft climbing on a bike over 7 days (or in one go haha)
40k run in one go (this is my plan)
40k swim (over the 7 days)
Strava group will be the point of record.
I might even make medals...
"I've made an exciting commitment to become a YSC Champion with my campaign: Emma’s 40th. The money I raise will go to support Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the premier non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and educating young women affected by breast cancer.
Each year, more than 13,000 young women 40 and under are diagnosed with breast cancer. I am making the commitment to help raise money to support these women, so they can face breast cancer feeling empowered.
I know I can do it with donations from people like you. How will your contribution help?
$25 could fund YSC materials at three healthcare providers’ offices.
$100 could provide a Newly Diagnosed Navigator to six women when they need it most.
$250 could allow us to train four survivors to serve as peer supporters.
$500 could fund a Young Empowered Survivor (YES) educational program.
$1,200 could pay for two women to travel to our annual conference for young women affected by breast cancer.
Any amount helps!
Thank you, in advance, for your support. I truly appreciate your generosity."
