Help me buy bikes for Tour de PINK

Kim Barker (Bianchi Ambassador)

Anyone who knows me, knows that I do not like the color pink. So you know if I sign up for something with PINK in the title, it is important.

As a Bianchi Dama Ambassador, I have committed to raise funds for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) Tour de Pink Survivor Bike Program.

Tour de Pink (TdP) is a three-day, 200 mile bike ride that raises funds for YSC and young adults affected by breast cancer nationwide.

Riding my bike is an important physical outlet for me. But more importantly, it allows my mind to wander and and my emotions to calm.

I can only imagine what facing a cancer diagnosis can do to one's outlook. I know that giving that person a bike and a goal to work for would be a lifeline.

This program provides bikes free of charge to young adults facing breast cancer. I want to support these women so they can face breast cancer feeling empowered. They will also participate in a Tour de Pink ride this October 2020. Raising this money will allow me to ride with them.

Young breast cancer survivors often face economic hardship because of lack of access to comprehensive health insurance as well as steep medical costs associated with a breast cancer diagnosis. Young survivors are often burdened by student loan debt, are less established in their careers, and lack savings.

All of these challenges result in economic hardship that can prevent a young woman from being able to buy a bike to ride in Tour de Pink.

Fine Print:
Established in 1998, YSC is the largest nonprofit dedicated exclusively to young adults diagnosed with breast cancer age 40 and under and their co-survivor support networks. YSC also educates and influences the medical, research and legislative communities to address breast cancer in young adults. Through educational resources and programming, annual conferences, and local and online support networks, YSC ensures no young adult faces breast cancer alone.
